Captain’s Blog – May 15, 2010 – Marathon Florida Keys – David Sorg, of Ft. Lauderdale, hosted his Canadian friends, Pierre Prudhomme and John Bertuccini, for an evening of tarpon fishing followed by a day of shark wrangling on the SeaSquared.
Flat calm waters are nice for just about any type of fishing. But, I especially like it to be calm when I take clients shark fishing in the Gulf because it makes for favorable conditions to see the swarms of sharks around the boat and trace them as they spot and attack the bait.
We did not have such conditions for the Sorg group, but it made no difference. Things were a little choppy, but the sharks were chomping aggressively all the same. It was impossible to keep track, but our videographer says we caught and released somewhere between 20 and 25 lemon sharks.
What was planned as a full day ended up a three-quarter day ’cause thanks for three sets of very sore arms!
