Day 1 for the Blake/Anderson group: Reef fishing

Tasty grouper and snapper for angling friends Roger and Mary Blake, from Burlington Ontario Canada, and Bill Anderson, from Weston FL.

This trio fishes a lot, and it shows.  They are expert at getting fish into the boat!

For our first of two outings we hit the reef off Marathon to get some good-eating fish.

We had a major problem with very large grouper eating our snappers on the hook before we could get them to the boat.  But the anglers persevered and caught 18 nice size yellowtails.  Roger also got a 12-pound mutton on 12-pound test with a yellowtail hook.

Just to show the grouper who’s boss, the crew landed two 10-pound blacks.  Mary topped off the day with a 15-pound black, her first grouper!
