Marathon Florida Keys Fishing Report, Capt. Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters, February 11, 2011
Although it was a weather shortened trip due to an approaching cold front, today’s trio of anglers put together a nice mess of mackerel, all headed for the smoker.
The target species for the day was yellowtail snapper, but with chilly water temperatures and a lack of current, that bite was not happening. So we moved to a channel hump and turned our attention to the great mackerel bite. The anglers put together a great bunch of Spanish mackerel plus one nice kingfish at about 15 pounds. It is all being smoked for tasty treats such as smoked fish dip.
The group consisted of Frank Tansley from Beachwood NJ, Jim Sollecito from Syracuse NY and Marathon and Ed Zinn from Rochester NY.
