The Akesson men – plus Mom – return for more shark wrangling

They got two sharks last year.  This year … fifteen!

Peter Akesson and his sons, Oliver and Alex, had so much fun catching sharks with SeaSquared Charters last summer, they came back for more this year.  They brought Mom – Ana – along and she brought the luck.

With the sky threatening to open up at any moment, I was glad we were able to get the whole trip in and that the sharks were active.  They often go to deeper waters when there’s a storm brewing.

Not only were they active, but we saw some of the largest lemon sharks of the season, with every one of them going six feet and larger.

These bruisers don’t jump like their smaller siblings, but they sure do give you a hard fight for your money!

The thrashing when the sharks were brought close to the boat created quite the whiteout!

Everyone got their turn at bringing in the lemons, even Ana!

The Akesson family visits the US from their home in Spain on a regular basis as Peter has business in Miami.  They now have their eyes on a spring tarpon trip.  We’ll see if tarpon fishing matches their love of shark fishing!

SeaSquared Charters practices 100% catch-and-release shark fishing using non-harmful circle hooks.  All sharks are released unharmed.
