Your absolute 100% satisfaction is our highest priority at SeaSquared Charters!
You have our guarantee that our crew members are dedicated to fulfilling your dreams of fishing in the Florida Keys. Whether it’s a trophy for the wall, food for the dinner plate or a work-out for your biceps, we will do our best to make it happen.
Don’t take a chance by fishing with a charter company that uses a “captain-for-hire” who has no vested interest in the success of your trip. When you fish with SeaSquared Charters, you are fishing with the actual owners and operators of our boats and our business.
A top-notch Captain and deckhand can mean the difference between a fishing charter and a fishing adventure of a lifetime. We at SeaSquared Charters pride ourselves in having what we consider the best, most professional, most customer-oriented crew in the Middle Florida Keys.
Meet our Crew
Born and raised in Belmar at the Jersey Shore, Captain Chris fell in love with fishing at the early age of three, when his mother taught him to fish in a front-yard puddle.
He landed his first job in the fishing business at 12, cleaning buckets on the headboats at the Belmar Marine Basin. From 13 to 18, he worked at Mac’s Bait & Tackle and then at Divers Two until he was 21. Hunting filled in the gaps between fishing seasons.
With only brief stints in the construction and retail liquor businesses, Captain Chris worked full-time on various charter, private and party boats out of the Belmar Marine Basin until moving to Marathon Florida Keys in November of 2004.
Once settled with his wife, Christy, he purchased the SeaSquared and spent a year learning the local waters and fishing techniques unique to the Keys. In February of 2006, the Johnsons launched SeaSquared Charters.
Captain Johnson is a proud member of the Yamaha Outboards National Fishing Team, ProGuide Direct Guide Team, and George Poveromo’s A Team.
Deckhand Jason Bell
Jason was born with gills. A true Conch, he has spent his entire life in Marathon and has never had an interest in anything other than fishing.
Schooled by his charter-boat father, Capt. Larry Bell, Jason was still in diapers when he caught his first fish. He is proficient with every type of fishing we have here in Marathon, whether it’s offshore for pelagics, on the reef/wrecks and bay/Gulf for various species and even on the flats for bonefish and more.
Jason has worked deck on the SeaSquared since he was 14, part-time during high school and now full-time. He is an integral element in the success of SeaSquared Charters, and our reviews on TripAdvisor are testimonials to his talents.
A native Floridian, Capt. Wayne began his fishing career in the Cape Canaveral area.
He joined the SeaSquared crew to fill in for Capt. Chris as needed. How, with the acquisition of his beautiful 31-foot Century center console boat, Wayne’s World, Capt. Wayne is a full-time member of the SeaSquared crew!
The newest member of the SeaSquared crew, Shawn moved from Schnedtady NY to set his sights on a career in the charter fishing business.
Shawn is a lifelong avid angler and boater and has spent countless hours on Great Sacandaga Lake in upstate New York. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of NY at Fredonia. But, following a family fishing charter in St. Petersburg FL, he realized he wants to learn the charter business and spend his time on the water.
Shawn is quickly learning the specialized techniques for fishing the waters surrounding Marathon, and his customer service is outstanding. He will provide you an excellent fishing experience!
Jason and Shawn doubled up on a reef/wreck charter.
Live bait is integral to our light-tackle fishing. Here, Jason demonstrates the fine art of throwing a cast net.
Before she met Chris, she didn’t know much about fishing at all. That changed quickly when the couple moved to Marathon Florida Keys and formed SeaSquared Charters. She quickly applied her marketing talents honed for 20-plus years in New York City to promoting their fledgling business.
Today, Christy is busy with the business full-time. She spends her days blogging, writing for various fishing and travel publications, handling inquiries and booking charters, updating the company’s many websites and all the mundane accounting and paperwork associated with owning a small business.
One of the highlights of Christy’s day is greeting the anglers as they get off the boats at the end of their charters. Who doesn’t love seeing happy, satisfied customers!
Jason’s girlfriend and lady angler extraordinaire, Marissa also grew up in Marathon. She works in the hospitality business, but helps out behind the scenes at SeaSquared Charters, and you’ll often get to meet her at the end of your charter on the SeaSquared.
Official office assistant and customer greeter, Isabelle came to live with the Johnsons after being abandoned during Hurricane Wilma in 2005. She takes a break from lizard-hunting and napping to go to the marina everyday to check out the day’s catch. If you’d like to follow Isabelle’s adventures in Marathon Florida Keys, just LIKE her Facebook page!
