Three generations fish together in the Florida Keys

Jeff Fiori brought his crew from Slingerlands NY (Albany area) to Tranquility Bay Resort for a family getaway.

Marathon Florida Keys Fishing Report – Captain Chris Johnson, SeaSquared Charters – December 4, 2010

When Jeff called to book his charter, he said his twin 6-year-old sons, Will and Ben, probably wouldn’t fish much.  Boy was he surprised!

I took the group, which also included granddad Butch Bowen, to Hawk Channel to put them on the red-hot snapper bite.  They caught mutton, mangrove and yellowtail snapper, a bunch of good size porgies and 5 hogfish.  They had many more hogfish hooked up but we were visited by a pesky barracuda who also wanted a tasty hogfish dinner.  The barracuda actually nipped the tail off one of our keepers.

The gang also released short red, black and gag grouper.  In the end, they walked away from the dock with 3 bags of filets to be cooked at Porky’s, Lazy Days, Castaway and Burdine’s during the rest of their stay in Marathon.

We haven’t heard from the Fioris since they returned to upstate New York and certainly hope they’re not lost in a snow bank!
