A week of family fun fishing on the SeaSquared

Captain’s Blog – April 8, 2010 – Marathon Florida Keys – It was family fun fishing all last week on the SeaSquared.

With the exception of one trip to the bay, I took all my groups to the patch reefs.  Limits of snapper – mangrove, yellowtail, mutton and lane – hit the fish boxes everyday, with a few mackerel added on the bay trip.

We released lots of grouper, and I am counting the days until the season reopens on May 1.

I don’t always take a deck hand with me, but I did last week.  Lucky for me, Jason Bell was on spring break from Marathon High School and available to go fishing.  Jason is a Conch and has done more fishing in his 15 years than many people would dream to do in a lifetime.  He’s also great with the junior anglers and was a real asset.  I look forward to having with me for family trips during the summer.

I truly enjoy having kids on the boat.  Their enthusiasm and sheer excitement are refreshing.  The best is when the whole family goes fishing.  You just can’t beat the bonding experience.  Somehow, fishing seems to renew family ties.  They get off the boat full of smiles.  The memories of their time spent together will last a lifetime.

Christy and I invite you to take a look at our Family Fun Fishing and Testimonials pages to see how much we enjoy having families on the SeaSquared!

I enjoyed fishing a few repeat clients, such as Mike and his twin boys from Boca Raton and the Hall family from New Jersey.  We also welcomed many new families – the Hines from Zionsville IN, the Verdicks from Elk River MN, the Bockenhauers from Chicago, the Walshes from Jersey and the Siglers from Grove City OH.
