Born and raised in Belmar at the Jersey Shore, Captain Chris fell in love with fishing at the early age of three, when his mother taught him to fish in a front-yard puddle.
He landed his first job in the fishing business at 12, cleaning buckets on the headboats at the Belmar Marine Basin. From 13 to 18, he worked at Mac’s Bait & Tackle and then at Divers Two until he was 21. Hunting filled in the gaps between fishing seasons.
With only brief stints in the construction and retail liquor businesses, Captain Chris worked full-time on various charter, private and party boats out of the Belmar Marine Basin until moving to Marathon Florida Keys in November of 2004.
Once settled with his wife, Christy, he purchased the SeaSquared and spent a year learning the local waters and fishing techniques unique to the Keys. In February of 2006, the Johnsons launched SeaSquared Charters.
After a career in sales and marketing in New York City, Christy relocated to Marathon in 2004 with Capt. Chris for the purpose of starting SeaSquared Charters.
She is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business plus all marketing efforts and will be the one you initially talk to when you call SeaSquared Charters.
Capt. Jason was born with gills. A true Conch, he has spent his entire life in Marathon and has never had an interest in anything other than fishing.
A third-generation charter boat Captain, Jason was still in diapers when he caught his first fish. He is proficient with every type of fishing we have here in Marathon, whether it’s offshore for pelagics, on the reef/wrecks and bay/Gulf for various species and even on the flats for bonefish and more.
Capt. Jason has worked with SeaSquared Charters since he was 14, first as deckhand and now as full-time Captain. He is an integral element in the success of SeaSquared Charters, and our reviews on TripAdvisor are testimonials to his talents.
A native Floridian, Capt. Wayne began his fishing career in the Cape Canaveral area.
Capt. Wayne and his wife, Christine, moved to the Keys in 2001 and he quickly put his fishing talents to work on various charter and private boats.
He originally joined the SeaSquared crew to fill in for Capt. Chris as needed. Now, with the acquisition of his beautiful 32-foot Century center console boat, the Wayne’s World, Capt. Wayne is a full-time member of the SeaSquared crew!
Brother to Capt. Jason and also a third-generation charter Captain, Capt. Alex added his boat, the Blue Magic, to the SeaSquared fleet in December 2015.
Capt. Alex has a diversified fishing career, with experience as a private boat Captain, a commercial fisherman and lobsterman. His talents cover the gamut of Keys fishing, including sailfish, offshore for dolphin and tuna, the reefs and wrecks and more.
An engineer in his former life, Steve has been fishing since a kid. His experience includes saltwater and freshwater fishing on fly and conventional tackle. He left Massachusetts in 2011 and came to Marathon to pursue his dream of becoming a professional fisherman. Most days, you'll find Steve working alongside Capt. Alex on the Blue Magic.
Capt. Kevin Goodwin
