A lot of fun fishing in a half day charter!
While you certainly are welcome to reserve any length or type of charter you'd like, we want you to know that you can get a lot of fishing accomplished in just a half day (4 hours).
The patch reefs and Hawk Channel on the Atlantic side consistently offer non-stop action for snapper, grouper, amberjack, mackerel, sailfish and more. The Seven Mile Bridge offers up hogfish, porgy and snapper plus sharks. The sandy patches on the Gulf/Bay side are shark central. And, the shallow Gulf wrecks and grassy banks offer permit, Spanish mackerel, cobia, grouper and snapper.
All of these near-shore fishing spots are a short, enjoyable ride from the dock, allowing for about three-quarters of any charter to be spent fishing.
SeaSquared Charters offers an interactive family fishing experience.
Our Captains and crew are there to make sure you have fun and success on your Florida Keys fishing adventure!
Although we certainly enjoy hosting our hardcore anglers, we pride ourselves in the sort of family fun fishing available with SeaSquared Charters. Our Crew members truly enjoy teaching kids the joy of bending a rod and delight in watching our junior anglers grow up as they return to fish with us year after year.
We offer an interactive experience where our anglers learn about the fish they’re catching and our coral reef system, with a little Florida Keys history thrown in too.
Family Fun Day
Want to get out on the water and mix it up a bit? No problem! Opt for one of our Family Fun Days. A little bit of fishing for something to bring back to eat (or not), followed by a little bit of exploring the shallows of Molasses Key, just a quarter mile from the Seven Mile Bridge. We anchor up on a sand flat, and you hop out of the boat to wade and splash around in the warm waters, with an eye out for starfish and small rays.
And, if you'd like to do some snorkeling, we have just the family-friendly spots for you. You do need to provide your own snorkel gear, which you can rent at local dive shops in Marathon. We recommend Captain Hook's (305-743-2444). Hall's (305-743-5929) and Tilden's (305-743-7255). The cost is in the $12-$15 range. We suggest you acquire your snorkel gear prior to your trip with us so you can become accustomed to it.
So, pack some snacks and drinks, and you're ready for some fun in the beautiful waters of the Florida Keys, with a trip customized to exactly the experience your family is seeking.
This is a great option for families with very small children whose attention span is limited to a short amount of fishing, or for adults who’d like to enjoy an in-water cocktail to top off their fishing trip. We highly recommend water shoes to protect your feet from the small pieces of coral and shell present.
Quality family time together - priceless!
A day on the water without electronic interruptions - TV, computer, cell phone, video games - is a great way for families to reconnect.
Our Captains and deckhands have a never-ending litany of fish tales and always keep their anglers of all ages well entertained between bites!
Never fished before or not often? No worries. We will teach you how to catch fish and have fun doing it. We don’t do the fishing for you. We figure you’re paying for the experience and should be the one holding the rod and reel. We will coach you for greatest success. And, our patience is boundless.
