Grouper, snapper for Orlando friends fishing in the Florida Keys

Captain’s Blog – May 31, 2010 – Great Memorial Day fishing in the Florida Keys for Orlando friends.

John and Marie De Lancett and Ed and Cathy Leighton spent the Memorial Day holiday weekend in Marathon and included a half day of fishing with SeaSquared Charters.

Fish to eat was the goal, so I took them to the reef for the red-hot grouper and snapper bite.  They came back to the dock with 3 black grouper from 8 to 12 pounds, mangrove snapper in the 3 to 4 pound class and a slew of 17 to 21 inch yellowtail snapper.  Now, that’s good eating!

Marie’s father owned a bait and tackle shop in Miami and she’s done a lot of fishing in her life.  I was delighted when Marie got off the boat, grinning ear to ear, and told me it was one of the best fishing trips she’s ever had!

See you next time!
